Teaching Writing: Structure and Style (TWSS)® is IEW’s award-winning seminar that has helped parents and teachers successfully teach writing for over 30 years. Now in its third edition, this comprehensive video-based course equips you, the parent or teacher, with proven methods to teach students structure, style, and the writing process through nine structural units and stylistic techniques. Using Andrew Pudewa’s engaging instruction, parents will learn how to teach the nine units as they work through writing exercises themselves in the seminar workbook. They will then be well equipped to teach Structure & Style for Students, Writing Across the Curriculum, Fix-It Grammar, and more.

Structure and Style for Students® is a comprehensive and flexible video-based writing curriculum. It organizes lessons into the same nine core units as the Teaching Writing: Structure & Style seminar, guiding students from basic note-taking and outlining to formal essays and literary analysis. The curriculum is divided into three primary levels (A, B, and C) based on student reading ability rather than strict grade levels. Instruction is divided into two core areas: Structure, which teaches the organization of writing, and Style, which focuses on the elements that make writing more engaging. The program is designed to be easy to use for parents, as video lessons handle the bulk of the instruction, though parent/teacher involvement is still required for grading and oversight. Three different package types are available for this curriculum.

• Parents and teachers should complete the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar before using Structure and Style for Students
• Basic packages include Teacher Manual, Student Packet, Binder, and Videos, with videos available in either DVD or Forever Streaming format
• Basic Plus packages include all the components from the Basic package, plus a corresponding grade level of Fix It! Grammar and Portable Walls™
• Premier packages include components from the Basic Plus package, plus Premium Membership, A Word Write Now, and Teaching Writing, Structure and Style

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) consists of theme-based courses that integrate the Structure and Style writing method with subjects like history, science, and literature. These interdisciplinary lessons provide ready-made daily plans and source texts to deepen content understanding while developing organizational and stylistic skills. Students move through 9 structural units, teaching them to imitate and analyze excellent writing to build their composition skills. Three levels (A, B and C) are used rather than grades, and courses can be completed in any order. Parents and teachers may choose any theme that appeals to their student or matches the focus of their classroom.

• Program components include a Teacher’s Manual and Student Book, available individually or as Combo Sets
• Unlike most IEW programs that use video instruction, WAC is fully book-based

Fix It! Grammar® is an incremental, story-based grammar and editing program that teaches students to identify and correct errors in daily sentences that cumulatively tell an engaging story. Each story is a version of a well-known fairy tale or folktale. This contextual approach helps students internalize grammar rules and apply them directly to their own writing rather than just completing isolated drills. The program follows a consistent five-part daily routine (Learn It, Read It, Mark It, Fix It, and Rewrite It) that combines grammar, vocabulary, editing practice, and rewriting for mastery. Over the course of six levels, Fix It! Grammar builds editing skills, sentence fluency, and confidence through consistent review and real writing application. Student Books provide weekly lessons with space to complete them. Teacher Manuals provide full answers and guidance.

• Lessons at all levels take only 5-15 minutes per day

The Elegant Essay is a writing curriculum designed to teach middle school and high school students how to master analytical writing by focusing on core components like thesis statements, transitions, and essay organization. Developed by Lesha Myers, the course functions as a bridge for students who have mastered basic paragraph writing and are ready to tackle complex descriptive and persuasive essays. A Student Book and Teacher’s Manual are needed to complete the program. The Elegant Essay is most suitable for students who want to improve on what they have learned through IEW’s Teaching Writing: Structure and Style methodology.

• Serves as a strong choice for students who want to improve their analytical writing
• The full course is intended to take 10 weeks to complete
• Both the Student Book and Teacher Manual are required
• Program components can be purchased individually or in a package

University-Ready Writing is a 12-week video-based curriculum designed to prepare high schoolers for collegiate academic standards. The program emphasizes skills like advanced note-taking, research writing, MLA/APA formatting, essay skills for timed exams, avoid plagiarism, and even analyzing a professor’s style to tailor assignments for better grades. Video lessons are taught by Andrew Pudewa and require minimal preparation from parents or teachers. The program is mastery-based, so students can progress at their own pace. University-Ready Writing serves as an advanced follow-up to IEW’s foundational Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, although familiarity with the methodology is not required to use this program.

The Primary Arts of Language (PAL) teaches reading and writing using a multisensory, blended sound-sight approach. It incorporates games and activities to teach phonics, sight words, and composition through a self-paced, mastery-based curriculum. PAL is organized into two programs that can be used together or independently: PAL Reading and PAL Writing. PAL Reading focuses on phonics and sight words and is based on Anna Ingham’s Blended Sound-Sight Program of Learning methodology. PAL Writing starts with letter and number formation, moves into copywork and spelling rules, and concludes with introductory composition skills. It also introduces IEW’s Structure and Style methodology.

The Phonetic Zoo is a self-paced, phonics-based spelling program that emphasizes auditory input and independent mastery. This zoo-themed program is built on Anna Ingham’s Blended Sound-Sight Program of Learning, which focuses on the “optimal” way for the brain to receive and process information. Students listen to audio recordings of words and jingles, taking independent spelling tests until they achieve mastery for each lesson. Every fifth lesson is a “Personal Spelling” lesson, allowing students to incorporate words they personally struggle with into their practice. The curriculum emphasizes independent student work and is divided into three levels (A, B, and C) based on the student’s ability rather than a strict grade level.

• Components include Lesson Cards, Personal Spelling Cards, Zoo Cards, 5 Audio CDs, a Teacher’s Notes book, and a link to the Spelling & the Brain seminar
• Starter Sets for each level include all components required for that level
• The Premier Package includes all components for the full program (levels A-C)

Windows to the World is a high school literary analysis curriculum that teaches students to analyze elements like characterization and theme while developing Christian discernment skills. The course uses short stories and poetry to help students examine worldviews and transition toward college-level analysis. The program primarily focuses on teaching students how to read actively by annotating texts and using inference to understand deeper meanings. Over the course of 15 units, students learn to identify and write about various literary devices. The course is flexible and can be completed in one semester or expanded into a full year of study if additional stories and projects are added. These are listed in the Teacher’s Manual.

• All literary material is contained within the Student Book, as well as activity worksheets which are typically reproducible for home and classroom use
• Instruction is written directly to the student in the Student Book
• Teacher’s Manuals provide background for stories, vocabulary exercises, sample essays, instructions for main teaching points, and suggestions for additional work

Introduction to Public Speaking is a 12-week program designed for middle and high school students to develop memory and delivery techniques. Students learn to write and present five specific speech types (self-introductory, narrative, expository, persuasive, and impromptu) while applying the classical Five Canons of Rhetoric: invention, arrangement, elocution, memory, and delivery. Students will use IEW’s signature keyword outline to help with memorization and organization of their speeches. Lessons include practical tips on where to stand, where to look, and how to project confidence while speaking. Tools for evaluating speeches are also provided, encouraging students to engage in self-evaluation and constructive peer review.
