While writing about topics from U.S. history, from the Explorers to Modern Times, students will develop more advanced writing skills such as thesis statements, MLA format, persuasive essays, research papers, and more. This course is designed for students with at least one year of experience with IEW at the high school level.
The Student Book contains assignments, instructions, engaging source texts, blank outlines, and checklists. The Teacher's Manual includes creative lesson planning tips, vocabulary quizzes, and answer keys. Literature suggestions and access to vocabulary cards and other helpful PDF downloads are included.
These lessons are designed to be used by an instructor who has been through the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style video course.
Perfect for homeschoolers, homeschool co-ops, tutors, and hybrid schools, this theme-based writing curriculum supports parents and teachers in teaching writing to high school students with prior experience in IEW.
While suggested activities in Janice Campbell's third edition of Excellence in Literature: American Literature are included, they are optional. IEW no longer carries Excellence in Literature products.
Note: The Student Resource Notebook is a necessary component of this course. This supplemental resource is included with your purchase as an e-book for you to download and print. (Please check the copyright page for download information.)
