The Primary Arts of Language (PAL) from the Institute
for Excellence in Writing (IEW) is a complete, fully integrated language arts
program for young students that develops all four essential language arts
skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Created with the insight of
Andrew Pudewa and based on Anna Ingham's Blended
Sound-Sight Program of Learning methodology, PAL goes beyond typical reading and writing instruction to
intentionally build strong foundations in every area of language development.
This multisensory, mastery-based program combines a blended
sound-sight approach with games, activities, and gentle progression, making it
ideal for early elementary learners. PAL is divided into two flexible programs
— PAL Reading and PAL Writing — that can be used independently or
together for a complete one-year language arts course.
