Jolly Learning Curriculum
Jolly Learning offers a complete K-6 phonics and literacy program that helps students build strong foundations in reading, spelling, grammar, and writing. First developed in the UK, it has since been adopted by other countries, including the United States. Backed by research and aligned with the Science of Reading, the curriculum uses multisensory techniques including actions, songs, stories, and games to help children develop essential reading and writing skills.
Key Jolly Learning Features:
• Programs use an organized and straightforward teaching approach
• Multisensory learning includes songs, actions, and other activities
• All components work holistically together so kids can retain concepts easily
Jolly Phonics (Grades PK-1)

Jolly Phonics is a comprehensive multisensory phonics program that can be implemented at three age levels: PK, K4 and K-1. The 42 letter sounds are taught first (before letter names) and in a specific order that is consistent throughout each level. Because of the spiral nature of Jolly Learning curriculum, children do not need to complete the preschool program before moving to Jolly Phonics or Jolly Literacy. Each level utilizes different components but follows the same strategies and order of instruction.
Key Program Features:
- PK: Jolly Phonics at Home components include the Jolly Stories Board Book, Activity Books, DVD, and the Jolly Songs Book and CD
- K4: Components include Finger Phonics, Workbooks, and Level 0 Decodedable Readers
- K5-1: Components include a Teacher's Book, Student Books 1 & 2, Decodable Readers 1-4, the Phonics Word Book, the Jolly Dictionary, Blend Wheels, Flashcards, and Handwriting Books
Jolly Literacy (Grades 1-6)

Formerly called Jolly Grammar, the Jolly Literacy program builds on the phonics concepts taught in Jolly Phonics with phonics review built into grades 1-2. Jolly Literacy will offer two separate courses that integrate language arts – one for grammar, spelling, and punctuation and another for reading comprehension and writing. Grade 1 currently offers both courses and Grades 2-6 are in development. Each course has 36 weekly units designed to be done two days a week (4 days total if using both courses).
Key Program Features:
- The skills learned in Jolly Phonics are interconnected with Jolly Literacy so students understand how the parts of language arts function together
- The teacher guide is essential at each grade level and includes a comprehensive overview of the programs and step by step lesson plans
- Student workbooks include a variety of activities that keep students engaged and aid in retention
