Description

The Layers of Learning Year 4 Curriculum Package includes the 4 core texts for the Year 4 cycle of Layers of Learning. Covering the mid-1700s through 2020, Modern World History is a fascinating look into the people and events that have shaped us as humankind. Relevant, tough topics are included in this study, with parents given the option to preview content and decide whether the lesson(s) are appropriate for their family. People and Place studies the people and geography of Southern Europe, the Andes, Saharan and East Africa, the Far East, and Central America. It also includes units on governments, economics, and a study of the student’s homeland (My Country). Physics is a great family course that not only provides the basic physics introduction that younger children need but also has options for lectures and labs to meet a high school Physics credit. Modern Art introduces painting, music, dance, literature, photography, and other types of art during the modern era from approximately 1800 to the present. The focus is “doing” art, so a number of art supplies are needed. The optional Student Journals are not included in this set but may be purchased separately. For more instruction in Writing, see the Layers of Learning Writing Workshop. Although this is a comprehensive unit study approach, math and phonics/reading and spelling are not included.
