This beginner workbook series from Teacher Created
Resources is a simple place to start a child who is showing an interest in
learning. Maybe they just want to “do school” like their siblings but aren’t
quite at the point to dive into a reading or math curriculum. The pages are
inviting, with friendly instructions in black and white. Try to complete a page
a day and build up a routine.
Students apply the techniques of tracing words, rainbow
writing (different colors for each letter), coloring in bubble letters, filling
in boxes, filling in missing letters, and circling or crossing out letters to
make words. Parents then discuss what the child did. That’s a lot of variety! The
goal is to provide a variety of experiences in order to learn 100 sight words.
A checklist of the sight words tracks your progress. ~Sara
