The Math-U-See Beta Instruction Manual is an essential part of the Math-U-See Beta program. Along with the curriculum sequence and introductory “how-to-use” information that outlines the MUS four-step teaching process, the Math U-See Beta Instruction Manual includes teaching instruction with example problems, solutions for the worksheets and tests, a glossary, and an index. The instruction is not scripted but is clearly presented and easy to implement. Also required are the instructional lesson videos, Beta Student Workbook and Tests, and the Integer Block Kit. The Instructional Videos are available in two formats: DVD or the Math-U-See Beta Online Instruction with Video (streaming). Mastery of place value and using it to add/subtract-specifically multi-digit addition and subtraction. Additional topics include telling and writing time by hours and minutes, adding and subtracting US currency, measuring and estimating length with inches/feet and centimeters/meters, comparison of numbers and lengths, perimeter of polygon, and interpretation of data in plots and graphs.
All lessons follow a similar format – watch the DVD lesson (parent first and then child/parent), work through lesson examples in the instruction manual together, and complete worksheets. Lessons conclude with a test. Cumulative unit tests are scheduled regularly to assure students retain previous teaching. The course concludes with a final test that covers all concepts taught.Details
