The Basic I Kit covers the same content as the ShillerLearning Math Kit 1: multiple years’ worth of skills taught incrementally using three different spiral-bound texts. Students as young as 3-4 begin in Book 1, for example, with shapes and numbers and logic. By lesson 21, students are introduced to the decimal system. Skills spiral, so for example, you’ll see writing number practice, followed by a lesson on counting and using higher numbers. Then students will spiral back and review skills. Follow the student’s pace as you work through the 196 lessons in Book 1 and the 151 lessons in Book 2, which work through double-digit math and multiples up through number 9. Book 3 continues with the decimal system, money, calendar, geometry, mental math, commutation, and Roman numerals, and ends with area, working towards abstract, pre-algebraic skills—113 lessons in total.
The contents of the Basic Kit include Lesson Books 1-3, Parent Guide, 4” yellow foam ball, geared clock, 1 pencil, 2 standard dice, safety mirror for symmetry work, one 22” x 34” cloth work mat, 0-9 set of wooden dominoes, 12” clear plastic ruler, pan balance for weight comparison, set of sixteen 1,000 cubes, set of plastic operation signs, complete number card set w/ wooden tray, base ten set, decimal material wooden tray, 8 each of 7 shape tiles, and a number tile set.
