SciQuest 100: Milo’s Mission Instructor Guide gives parents what they need to successfully teach cells, animals, and our planet. The Quick Start Guide explains the course and gives an overview of the student’s week: Read a chapter in PB Nanner Fluffer Test, do the weekly experiments, and complete the written activities in the Lab Journal. The Instructor Guide also provides two scheduling options, teacher notes with discussion questions, and helpful information to help parents through the one-semester study. Required lab supplies for demonstrations include a microscope (100x-400x settings) or magnifying glass, access to the internet for online labs, microscope slides, gloves, tweezers, owl pellet, a frog dissection kit (or virtual dissection), and various household supplies. You will also need at least one quality science encyclopedia. The author recommends the Usborne Science Encyclopedia, Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia, Usborne Illustrated Dictionary of Science, Super Earth Encyclopedia from DK, and Everything You Need to Ace Science in One Big Fat Notebook. This is an exciting new series for middle school from the authors of the Sassafras Twins elementary science curriculum. I eagerly await the upcoming titles that will cover chemistry and physics, as well as expand topics in Biology, Life Science, and Earth Science. The planned scope and sequence includes: Odd Level Numbers (100, 300, 500, and 700) will study Biology and Earth Science, and Even Level Numbers (200, 400, 600, and 800) will study Chemistry and Physics.
