Savvas Homeschool Curriculum
Savvas is a familiar name in public school classrooms with curriculum offerings across the four core subjects of math, ELA, science, and social studies and spanning the full range of grade levels. Teacher support is thorough, whether online or in print, with options to meet the needs of a variety of learners. You will notice some familiar titles that were formerly published by Pearson, such as Plaid Phonics from Modern Curriculum Press, with print components for student and teacher. Newer titles provide digital teacher resources only on the Savvas Realize® platform. A one-year subscription to the platform is included in those Homeschool Bundles.

Savvas Language Arts Curriculum
Plaid Phonics (Grades K-6)


Plaid Phonics progresses from teaching letter recognition in the kindergarten level to alphabetizing, syllabication, and vocabulary skills in the upper levels. Review within a level and overlap with the next level allows you to jump in anywhere in the program. Resources include pre-tests, post-tests, lesson plans, and teaching guidance. There is no digital component.

D’Nealian Handwriting (Grades K-5)


D’Nealian Handwriting is a continuous stroke method, giving letters a more fluid look over a traditional ball-and-stick style. This makes the print-to-cursive transition in 2nd grade seem effortless. Through the Savvas Realize online platform, teachers can customize content for the student and print additional practice pages. Stroke modeling animations teach the proper slant, size, and spacing of letters.

Foundational Reading (Grades K-2)


Foundational Reading is a comprehensive phonics curriculum with simple, straightforward instruction that is easy to use. Lessons are taught in modules with focused mini-lessons and frequent assessments for the student that are non-intimidating and fun. Interactive elements demonstrate letter sounds. Both D’Nealian and Traditional style handwriting instruction are also incorporated.

myView Literacy (Grades K-5)


myView Literacy bundles are complete ELA courses that align with the Science of Reading. Courses are designed to be teacher-student interactive and will require a time commitment from the parent. Online teacher resources on the Savvas Realize platform include detailed lesson plans, audiobook readings of the literature selections, games for reinforcement, flashcards, videos, assessments, and answer keys.

Spelling Workout (Grades 1-8)


Spelling Workout is a research-based workbook series that takes a phonetic approach in the lower levels and a structural approach (word roots) in the upper levels. Teacher Editions include pre-test dictation sentences, spelling strategies, teaching notes, spelling and writing suggestions, and answers to the student workbook. Student workbooks are printed with minimal color and include a dictionary at the end. This course has no digital component.

myPerspectives standards-based language arts courses provide instruction in literary analysis, composition, and grammar in a scaffolded format. Reading selections are diverse, academically challenging, and encourage critical thinking. Both teacher and student books are provided in print format, with additional online resources available on the included Savvas Realize platform. Online resources include daily lessons with extensive writing instruction notes, formative assessments, and digital versions of Teacher’s Editions and Student Texts.

Savvas Mathematics Curriculum
enVision Mathematics (Grades K-12)


enVision Mathematics (2020/2021 edition) for grades K-8 are the most current editions available to homeschoolers. Concepts and instruction are aligned to Common Core standards. Math readers and STEM projects are integrated in most grade levels. At grade 7, there is an option for accelerated learning that would be followed by Algebra 1 in 8th grade. Teacher Resource Masters are classroom-type resources. Spanish e-versions are included. enVision Math 2.0 (2017/2018 edition) for grades K-12 also aligns with current math standards. Digital resources provide games, animations, and leveled math readers with teaching guides (K-6) and integrates STEM projects (6-12).

MCP Mathematics (Grades K-6)


MCP Mathematics (Modern Curriculum Press) is a solid program using a research-based approach that incorporates direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice for mastery of the concepts. With a 2005 copyright date, it was written pre-Common Core standards. Graphics are black and white with an accent color. Chapter tests and cumulative assessments are included at the end of every chapter in grades 1-6. There is no digital component.

Savvas Science Curriculum
Elevate Elementary Science (Grades K-8)


Elevate Science is aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) with each level covering earth, life, and physical sciences. Student worktexts are colorful with text, short-answer questions, hands-on activities, literary connections, STEM connections, and real-world problems. Most activities use easy-to-find household items. Online resources on Savvas Realize include planning resources (but no daily lesson plans), an e-Teacher’s Book, supply lists, teaching suggestions, and answers.

- Meets NGSS with engaging text, hands-on projects, STEM connections, and real-world applications
- Homeschool Bundle includes softcover Student Worktext and one-year access to Savvas Realize for the teacher

Savvas Science for High School (Grades 9-12)


Savvas high school sciences include Biology and Chemistry and use an inquiry-based approach. These courses meet Next Generation Science Standards. Many labs may be challenging to do at home, as no lab supply kits are available. If your high schooler plans to study science at the college level or laboratory hour credits are required for a transcript, you may wish to supplement with a more homeschool-friendly lab resource.

At Grade 5, you may choose from two courses: 5A (pre-history to the Civil War) or 5B (Civil War to present times) according to the era you wish to cover in U.S. History. There is a range of fun learning opportunities on the Savvas Realize platform, including timelines, songs, and videos. Images and viewpoints shared are diverse and inclusive.

Savvas Interactive High School History (9-12)


Savvas High School History includes a year each of U.S. History, World History, and American Government. Students develop critical thinking skills through answering comprehension and analysis questions, reading primary sources, studying key terms and concepts, and applying the reading through writing. Digital resources include videos, additional biographies, interactives, and more.
