Through weekly word lists, contextual reading, and varied activities, it builds strong vocabulary, improves reading comprehension, and provides excellent standardized test preparation. The Student Book is the core of the program, with the optional Home Educator Guide providing teaching support, activities, and answers. While older students can work independently, K–1 levels require more parent involvement.
Key Program Features:

- Provides research-based exercises for deep understanding and long-term retention
- Features reading passages with comprehension questions using the lesson words

Explode the Code®
Grades K-4

Explode the Code is a systematic, multisensory phonics program based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. Designed for preschool through 3rd/4th grade, it is ideal for both beginning readers and students who need extra support or remediation. Students will progress through three carefully sequenced series of workbooks that build strong phonological and phonemic awareness, decoding skills, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The program begins with three pre-literacy primers that teach letter names and sounds: Get Ready, Get Set, and Go for the Code. After completing the primers, students will work through Explode the Code Books 1–8, which typically takes 2 years. To round out the program, the four Beyond the Code books offer supplemental reading comprehension practice and help develop higher-level thinking skills.
Key Program Features:
- Offers systematic, hands-on phonics instruction using Orton-Gillingham principles
- Lessons combine phonics drills with reading, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension activities
- Progressive workbook series build phonemic awareness, decoding, and spelling
- Additional ½ level books provide extended practice with a particular phonics skill set before moving to the next level

Designed for Kindergarten through approximately 2nd grade, it teaches phonics skills through simple, straightforward workbooks and charming, fully decodable storybooks. The program is organized into a Kindergarten level followed by six additional levels. Levels 1–3 are typically completed in the first year and Levels 4–6 in the second year. Color-coded materials help keep each level organized, and two Teacher Guides support the full sequence. Storybooks come in sets of 10 starting with the beloved Mac and Tab series. Each level has its own consumable Student Workbook. Additional workbooks and storybooks are available for students who need extra practice and reinforcement.
Key Program Features:

Megawords®
Grades 4-12

Megawords is a spelling and vocabulary program that teaches words in the context of reading and writing rather than through rote memorization. Words are carefully grouped by phonetic structure and syllable patterns, helping students understand spelling rules and improve their overall literacy skills. Student Workbooks provide targeted practice through word lists and follow-up exercises, while the Teacher Editions offer clear guidance and pacing suggestions. The program is flexible, allowing you to adjust the pace based on your student’s ability, and placement is straightforward based on known skills. An Assessment Book is available as an optional diagnostic tool.

Vocabulary from Classical Roots®
Grades 4-12

Vocabulary from Classical Roots is a vocabulary program that strengthens students’ written and spoken language skills by teaching the origins and meanings of Greek and Latin roots. Rather than memorizing isolated words, students learn thematically grouped roots, prefixes, and suffixes while building cultural literacy through literary, historical, and cultural references. Each lesson concludes with a variety of exercises such as synonyms, antonyms, analogies, words in context, and sentence completion to ensure deep mastery and retention. The program includes a Student Worktext and a separate Answer Key, as well as an optional Teacher Key that provides additional guidance, enrichment, and expanded teaching support. Test Books are also available.
