Description

Want to bring American history to life and build life-long memories with your kids? This non-consumable, full-color Activity Guide correlates chapter-by-chapter with the New World Wonders American History Textbook, reinforcing learning through interactive experiences that help kids connect with history!

After reading in the Textbook, simply flip to the corresponding chapter to find a short, bonus history lesson that expands upon the theme and adds depth to the 2 suggested activities for that chapter. Pages are full-color with lots of engaging pictures! There is always a creative notebooking activity for each child to write or draw in a blank, unlined journal of their choice followed by a unique, hands-on activity including geography & maps, crafts, projects, and/or games. How about sculpting a clay tree and carving a message – just like someone from the Roanoke colony might have done before they disappeared? Or crafting a Wampum belt, like the one William Penn received from the Delaware Indians during a treaty! Creative geography activities help kids understand and explore the world in fun and different ways.

The suggested 4 day/week schedule (inside the Guide) completes this course in one school year, but you can easily tailor the pace to fit your family’s needs. A supply list at the front of the book makes it easy to gather what’s needed for each week. A QR code and web address inside the book offer a support site with free video tutorials of some activities and a Maps and More PDF with printable maps for all geography activities along with other helpful resources. Back pages include an optional oral exam, end-of-year writing assignments, and several pages with suggestions for an end-of-year colonial celebration (food, music, games, décor, etc). 108 pgs, pb.
