This level starts out with cursive; if your student needs more help in printing skills before transitioning to cursive, examine Cursive Kickoff as a possible starting place. This cursive style is uniquely vertical with few serifs or additional components. The theory is that once students reach competency in writing form, they’ll be able to add their own signature style. The nontraditional writing lines are ¼” and provide plenty of space to practice. However, this edition does provide opportunities to practice on other line types as well. Students practice the letter itself once or twice, but most practice is in the context of words. The book ends with copying paragraphs on interesting people, including Galileo and Garret Morgan, and even finishing paragraphs that are started for you (based on some bullet points provided). 94 pgs, sc. ~ Ruth

Children in third grade learn cursive lowercase and capital letters with fun, engaging and multisensory lessons in Cursive Handwriting. Practice formations and connections with on grade ELA activities that teach paragraphs, poems, and composition. Students practice using different line styles. Pause and Practice pages provide opportunities for progress monitoring. Cursive Handwriting 2025 also includes:
- Step-by-step letter formations that are easy to teach.
- Vertical cursive style that is easy to read and write.
- Left-friendly design with perfect letter models.
- Practice writing on different line styles.
- Pause and Practice pages for progress monitoring.
In this level, students’ books are vertical format, and the program’s unique cursive is created on double-lined (rather than triple) writing spaces. This course highly recommends the Ready for Cursive Poster Set, the Blackboard with Double Lines, chalk bits, and little sponge cubes. “Pause and Practice” sections occur every 10-12 pages, practicing previously learned letters to fine-tune handwriting fluency. After students review capital letters, they’ll enjoy unique handwriting practice tasks that include punctuation, prefixes, political maps of North America, and even learning special keyboard symbols. Using both student and teacher books is strongly recommended, as well as adding manipulatives during instruction sessions. Note: Digital tools such as the IDTT (Interactive Digital Teaching Tool) are available for traditional classrooms only and are truly unnecessary in a small classroom/homeschool setting (for example, a giant smart board projection of the letter K). References to these digital tools are clearly identified with a laptop/tablet icon.
