These two Handwriting Without Tears posters introduce students to and remind them how to form and align their cursive letters to form words and sentences. The top half of the Lowercase Cursive Letters poster shows each cursive letter, stroke by stroke, with a directional starting arrow. Letters combined of two strokes identify which stroke comes first and which comes second. The bottom half of the poster demonstrates (in cursive and visually, with children demonstrating an action that mimics) how letters are connected: either via baseline or high connection. The Time to Write (cursive) poster brings Magic C rabbit in to remind us how to make these special letters. Then, visual cues remind students where letters connect. Sentences are modeled with appropriate spacing between words and words with ascenders and descenders are demonstrated on a variety of line types. These posters arrive folded and unfold to a 16”x 20”. The posters are printed with a matte finish. You may want to laminate these for years of use. ~ Ruth

Description
Students start by reviewing print letters in developmental order for the first 29 pages, then move to learning cursive lowercase letters. The goal of this cursive methodology is to teach form and not style. Therefore, letters are not written in slanted form. The order that cursive letters are taught is also different—a developmental progression. After every few letters that students learn and practice, they are given “Pause and Practice” pages to review letter creation. The double-lines for writing are ½ inch wide; however, this edition also provides opportunities to practice on other line types. Students will practice writing about various subjects: geography, months and dates, poems, and more. The Teacher Guide and consumable student book are sold individually, in student and teacher packages, or in packages with manipulatives. This program is great for left-handed students, students who struggle with handwriting, or students who want a streamlined approach to handwriting script. Students will need the manipulatives Ready for Cursive Poster Set, the Blackboard with Double Lines, and chalk bits with little sponge cubes. Packages are available. Note: Digital tools such as the IDTT (Interactive Digital Teaching Tool) are available for traditional classrooms only and are truly unnecessary in a small classroom/homeschool setting (for example, a giant smart-board projection of the letter K). References to these digital tools are clearly identified with a laptop/tablet icon.
