The Nature Smarts Workbook for Ages 7-9 is a supplemental science resource that teaches elementary students about the natural world, including plants & bugs, rocks*, animal tracks, birds, and more! Since 7- to 9-year-olds vary in their writing ability, this is kept to a minimum, and instead students are asked to complete activities like filling in blanks using a word list, circling differences between illustrations, drawing a dinosaur footprint, and recording cloud data.
Activities include collecting and sorting rocks based on observable features, creating a wind vane with a compass and ribbon, making an animal track station, and pulling up clumps of grass to observe the root system. There is a lot of vocabulary learned at this age, but it is presented in fun ways, like mapping the land, learning to recognize various rocks, doing a planet puzzle, and lots more!
Parent interaction is always enjoyable at this age, and your
child is sure to have lots of questions about the rocks in a parking lot, what
different bird beaks can do, and how big the planets are! 93 pgs, with answers included in the back.
