Description

The Nature Smarts Workbook for Ages 4-6 is a supplemental science resource that teaches young learners about the natural world, including plants & bugs, rocks, animal tracks, birds, and more! Since 4- to 6-year-olds vary in their writing ability, this is kept to a minimum, and instead students are asked to circle, match with a line, follow a maze, do simple dot-to-dots, or write simple words.

Topics are relatable to children at this age. The language is friendly and the pages have colorful illustrations. Activities include observing soil in jars, going on a scavenger hunt outdoors, and making a cover habitat to see who makes a home underneath! Your child will learn to be aware of the nature around them and to notice when something does not belong. The environmental message is one of care, not agenda. For example, the book teaches to pick up trash when you see it so it won’t hurt any wildlife.

Parent interaction is always encouraged at this age, as your child is sure to have lots of questions about birds, worms in the soil, and who left a certain footprint at the park!  93 pgs, with answers included in the back. ~Sara
