With colorful pictures and fairly straight-forward text, this book for children explores the discovery made by Marie Curie. Telling a little of her history prior to her work with radiation, this book tells the process she used to collect the mystery substance "radium," and then it details some of the lasting impact her work has had. 48 pgs, pb. ~ Zach
Chemistry
for the Grammar Stage from Elemental Science is a 36-week study of atoms, the periodic table, reactions, and more through
visually appealing encyclopedias, hands-on demonstrations and activities, and
notebooking. The course is organized well and easy to use for parents and kids
alike. Topically students begin the year studying atoms and molecules and the
periodic table, before moving into physical and chemical changes, mixtures,
acids and bases, and organic chemistry. There are two scientist biography
reports recommended: Pasteur’s Fight Against Microbes in the Mixtures
Unit and Marie Curie’s Search for Radium in the Acids and Bases Unit. Please
note: Pasteur’s Fight Against Microbes is currently out of print. It may
be available through your local library, or a suitable substitute may be used. The
course requires the Chemistry for the Grammar Stage
Teacher Guide, the spine resources, and student materials. We also offer
a printed Chemistry the Grammar Stage Student
Workbook. If you
prefer lapbooking, a PDF of Lapbook Templates is available from the publisher.
Written to be religiously neutral, the recommended resource books may reference
evolution or an old earth timeline.
