Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

We have always loved Saxon Math. The lessons are clear, with lots of practice problems. We have never been disappointed with Saxon.
Jennifer B on Mar 1, 2021
Two of my three kids started with Saxon Math. great for self-learning; step by step instruction is also great for parents revisiting math to help if needed; lesson practice keeps them current on concepts they learned throughout the year. I ended up getting this for my son in high school too- when his program, CPM, was not working as well at home than public school. (we are in our first year of homeschool)
Rebecca O on Feb 7, 2021
Saxon Math is absolutely incredible. We have looked at a lot of other curriculum, and it comes out on top. I love the review. Before Saxon, my students would forget things that had been taught earlier in their books because there was not enough review to keep it solidly in their memories. Not with Saxon. Your child will be great at math. The Art Reed videos make it perfect, and set us up for success. Thanks.

Saxon has been a good fit for my homeschooled student since the early grades. While she has studied with other math text books, both in homeschool and brick and mortar, she appreciates the review that occurs in each lesson as skills are mastered through practice. She plans to continue through the Saxon Calculus.

We've done Saxon math many years. Easy for me to help instruct. When we got to Algebra 2, I met my match and couldn't personally teach. We bought the previous Alg. 2 kit with the solutions manual, as well as the digital online. My daughter found this a way to work independently, being able to see and hear the teacher online and at times just reference the solutions manual. Both solutions manual and visual online helped her greatly! We are certain this will remain true for Advanced Math.
Melody B on Aug 14, 2020
Fantastic bargain for all that is included.

My daughter will be attending public high school this fall. (We have been homeschooling for five years.) The public high school does not have textbooks for math; they expect students to take good notes. I find this unacceptable. We have already completed Saxon Algebra 1, and my daughter was very successful with the student-directed language, explanations, examples, and practice material. We plan to use this and Saxon Algebra 2 as reference texts for the topics covered in her math classes.

We have used Saxon since first grade. The curriculum is thorough and rigorous. This is the next step in our mathematical learning journey.

I spoke with a Saxon Math specialist and determined that this was the best fit for us. I like how they integrate geometry throughout their Algebra I, II, and Advanced Math books.
Kiersten B on Feb 19, 2020
We tried an online version of pre-cal but it didn't work for us. We've used Saxon since elementary so will give this one a try. Thought online class would be more helpful but looks like there's nothing like hands on from a parent. :)

I have been very happy with the Saxon Math series. The progression of learning is just right and the explanations are very clear. This is the next step in our daughter's high school math curriculum.

Our family has used every level of Saxon math. K-Advanced Math. Next year we will be purchasing the last level, calculus. I have 3 boys. 1 excels in math, 1 is right on track, and 1 struggles. However, Saxon proves to be a curriculum for all 3. Thanks SAXON!

Kwi Young K on Jun 26, 2018
Saxon is the best math curriculum out there. It is rigorous, and when used properly, students retain skills and understanding. It is important to complete every single problem and take no shortcuts. Each lesson takes us approximately 45 minutes to an hour to complete, and it's just right for us.
Mary O on Apr 29, 2018
My son is struggling in Geometry due to laziness. He likes Saxon Math (they are using other Geometry book) so I am using the first 65 lessions to help him with the other book and motivate him to work in school for if he does not he will at home.

My son is almost finished with Saxon Algebra 2 with integrated Geometry. Do we get the Advanced Mathematics text next or go into calculus, what's the difference?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Advanced Math is the next book in this Saxon Math series. (As opposed to the newer editions of Saxon which handle Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 in separate books.) Advanced Math finishes geometry and then tackles trigonometry and pre-calculus. Depending on how far into math you plan to go in high school, you can finish this book in two semesters or three (which has been recommended by many parents). Hope this helps!
Does the Saxon Advanced Math curriculum include a Teacher's Edition textbook?
Dymphna on Jul 7, 2021
BEST ANSWER: No, there is no Teacher’s Edition textbook. The Solution Manual shows step-by-step how to solve the problems for each lesson. The student textbook explains each lesson very clearly and works out the example problems in detail.
