Publisher's Description of French for Children Primer B Package

A yearlong course for grades 5-7

Don't stop now! French for Children Primer B, the second book in the French for Children series, is just as engaging, incremental, and creative as French for Children Primer A. Students will learn new grammar concepts and much new vocabulary.

This classical, beautiful, and widely spoken language will be a treasure for children to continue to learn. There is a distinction, however, between just learning common words and phrases, which is the approach of many French programs, and knowing the language well enough to communicate fluently and accurately. French for Children Primer B continues to teach upper-elementary students this dynamic language, both classically and creatively. This book employs the pedagogy and structure in the same manner as French for Children Primer A, combined with immersion-style dialogues and vocabulary so that the French language will be taught well and thoroughly. The French for Children series emphasizes grammar and the parts of speech as vital tools for correctly speaking and understanding French. Lessons also include lively chants to aid memorization of both grammar and vocabulary.

Full program includes:

  • French for Children Primer B (Student Edition) Each workbook is easy to use, incremental, and filled with clear grammatical explanations written expressly for the student. Exercises, tests, and a useful reference section are also included. Lessons teach mnemonic aids (songs and chants) that enable students to learn vocabulary and grammar with ease and delight. There are clear explanations of grammar in every chapter, written at the student's level.
  • French for Children Primer B Answer Key This teacher's tool features actual, full-size pages from the primer, with answers to quizzes, exercises, and worksheets in bold print.
  • French for Children Primer B Streaming Video & Audio French for Children Primer B video features master French teacher and author Joshua Kraut. Bring this valuable resource into your classroom to teach your students directly, or use it to privately prepare yourself to teach the lessons. Each lesson (40-50 minutes) corresponds to the weekly chapter of French for Children Primer Band has three segments: vocabulary, grammar, and conversational French. The audio chants feature all of the pronunciations from the Pronunciation Wizard, as well as the dialogues, lively grammar chart chants, complete vocabulary, Conversation Journal words and phrases, Say It Aloud exercises, dictes, and more!
Category Description for French for Children

French for Children is a friendly beginner French program from Classical Academic Press for students between about 3rd grade and 6th grade. Parents do not need to know French themselves. There are 2 levels, A and B, each about a semester long. It is an excellent lead-in to a high school French program.

  • Primer A (Level 1) has 17 weekly chapters. Each chapter has a memory page, grammar page, fun worksheet, and a quiz. Students learn common vocabulary (including nouns & gender), conjugating verbs, conversation, and constructing sentences. Here is our complete package.
  • Primer B (Level 2) has 17 weekly chapters that emphasize grammar with expanded dialogues, stories, songs, and chants. Weekly worksheets and quizzes are included. Here is our complete package.
  • Consumable Student Worktexts are called “Primers”.
  • Chants teach vocabulary with correct pronunciation and help students remember grammar rules. The chants come with the digital video lessons but are also available digitally without the videos.
  • The Answer Key is a copy of the worksheet and quizzes in the Primer with the answers filled in. This book does not include every page from the Primer - only those with answers.
  • Instructional Videos & Chants are available if the instructor is not familiar with Spanish. Each lesson (approx. 15 min each) features the author, Joshua Kraut. The story reads somewhat like a fable and introduces you to new vocabulary you will see in the lesson. You will see both French and English in the dialogues. You will also practice your speaking with a chant from the audio files. The chants teach your mouth how to form the sounds. So, practice these until you master them! Vocabulary is the other component of the memory section, about 10 words per chapter.
