Category Description for Science 6 (5th Edition)

BJU Press Grade 6 Exploring Science is a lab-based curriculum using a biblical framework to study a variety of subjects related to physical science, life science, and earth science. Students evaluate models used to classify living things, investigate the relationships between forces, motion, and energy, and analyze how cellular structure and genetics affect a species' survival and reproduction, while expanding their scientific inquiry, discovery, and STEM skills.

This new 5th edition has several changes. Six physical science chapters were added. An essential question(s) and a vocabulary list begin each chapter to help students see the overall idea of the chapter. Case studies, connection features, career boxes, and worldview investigations have been added.  A mini lab activity (separate from activities in the lab manual) has been included in each chapter. Ethic boxes have ethical dilemmas related to current topics in science with the purpose of students formulating a biblical understanding of issues and applying it. Engaging characters from the Pine Street Post (Jaden, Mia, and Sofia along with mentor, Manuel, and teacher, Mrs. Jefferson) discuss the biblical worldview aspects of different topics. Each section has a review and chapters end with a summary and review. ~ Gina
