April 19th, 1775, a date nearly equal in importance as that of July
4th, 1776. This was the beginning of the Revolutionary War with Britain
and the “shot heard round the world” as immortalized in “Concord Hymn,” a
poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Who were these men? Why were they called Minutemen? Why were they
willing to fight the most intimidating military force in the world? Your
students will learn the answers to these questions and draw The Minute
Man statue from Minute Man National Historical Park in Massachusetts.
