Typically, those analyzing the biblical book of Job focus on the literary style or solely on Job’s suffering. However, The Remarkable Record of Job (subtitled The Ancient Wisdom, Scientific Accuracy, and Life-Changing Message of an Amazing Book) juxtaposes God’s display of creation (with echoes of Genesis 1–11) alongside the evil that Satan wields. Author Henry Morris, former president of the Institute for Creation Research, believed that an understanding of creation is the basis of true faith, salvation, and peace in human relationships. The author affirms that the book of Job instead asserts the real creation of the universe (and all in it) and the need for a personal Creator. Job can escape his misery and the poor counsel of his “miserable comforters.” How? Recognize that God (as the one true God and creator of all and of Job) is purely good, knows best, and has the right to allow what he does. Morris’ assertions sting a bit in our modern culture, but his points are worth wrestling with. Chapters are short, but the text is dense on a page.
