This Teacher’s Guide provides you with an Answer Key and Discussion Guide to direct students to examine others’ story writing, while also introducing learners to personal practice in all elements of creative writing, including building characters, conflict, dialogue, theme, plot, and scenes. This Teacher’s Guide includes a discussion guide, answer key, and a bibliography of all of the examples used in the student text (which is quite extensive). Assignments that are necessary to complete will vary in length. You’ll lead your students through one of 2 tracks: the All Writers or the Manuscript track (which provides more in-depth assignments for students to create a manuscript—for possible submission by the end of the course). A handful of assignments require students watch movies (including The Greatest Showman; Cast Away; and The Fugitive. A full list of these and other required works is found in the front of the Teacher Guide. Some assignments include engaging with and rewriting some portions of a modern dystopian novel, the Last Book in the Universe. The end of the Teacher’s Guide provides an alphabetical listing of media referenced. As teacher, feeling comfortable with fiction and responding to writing assignments will help you in guiding your students. You’ll also need to determine your method of evaluating your student’s writing. 77 pgs, pb. ~ Ruth
