The appendixes are a wealth of information with a scope and sequence, skill index, and many helpful reference pages. The Sunrise 2nd Edition Grade 7 Language Arts course is thorough and economical! Students work through a series of 10 workbooks (called LightUnits), weaving together grammar, spelling, composition, and penmanship. Each workbook includes 17 lessons (now in color), two quizzes, and a test, which are designed for independent work with a low level of teacher involvement. Students study verb voice, subordination of ideas in sentences, verbals, adjective clauses, adverb clauses, several forms of writing, and more. Although workbook instruction is written to the student, two optional Teacher Guides (broken up by units: 701-705 and 706-710) provide detailed instruction for teaching, reduced student pages with lesson answers, quiz and test answers, additional spelling lists, and alternative tests. For those using this course more independently, there is a separate Lesson Answer Key for LightUnits 701-710 and a Quiz & Test Answer Key, which are not required if using the Teacher Guides.
