Teaching Method

A methodology based on the Latin Trivium (three stages of learning), including the grammar stage (memorization and facts), logic stage (critical thinking), and rhetoric stage (developing/defending ideas).
Unit Study
A thematic or topical approach centered around one topic that integrates multiple subject areas.
Montessori (Discovery)
A methodology based on the work of a 20th century educator that emphasizes student and sensory-driven discovery learning and real-life applications.
Other
Other methodologies
Religious Content
Secular
Contains content contrary to common Christian beliefs (i.e. evolution).

Presentation
Sequential
Curriculum progresses through well-defined learning objectives. Emphasizes mastery before moving to the next topic.
Spiral
Topics and concepts are repeated from level to level, adding more depth at each pass and connecting with review.
Conceptual/Topical
Focus is on the “why,” often with a unifying concept as well as specific skills; coverage may be broader.
Teacher Involvement
Low Teacher Involvement
Student-led materials; parent acts as a facilitator.
Medium Teacher Involvement
A mix of teacher-led time and independent student work.
High Teacher Involvement
Teacher-led lessons; may utilize discussions, hands-on activities and working together.

Novare’s Experiments
for Introductory Physics and ASPC (Accelerated Studies in Physics and Chemistry)
includes complete teacher instruction for the lab experiments in both the
Novare Introductory Physics and the Accelerated Studies in Physics and
Chemistry (ASPC). Each lab includes learning objectives and purpose of the
experiment, materials required, overview, pre-lab discussion questions, how to
score lab reports, student instructions, and illustrations. There are six
experiments included. Five are to be completed in both the Introductory Physics
and the Accelerated Studies in Physics and Chemistry programs, with the
additional lab completed in the Accelerated Studies in Physics and Chemistry
Program. While this may seem “light” compared to other curricula, it is the
author’s belief that fewer in-depth experiments with detailed lab reports
deepen comprehension. Some of the materials needed may be more difficult to
obtain, so alternative options are included.
Publisher's Description of Novare Experiments for Introductory Physics and ASPC
Experimentsdesigned to teach proper laboratory skills and methods, illustrate concepts in physics.
Taking a physics-first approach to high school science, Novare’s Introductory Physics is
for any student who is currently studying or has completed Algebra 1. The
course may be taken at any point in the high school years, as it includes two
chapters that provide an optional challenge for older learners (and may be
omitted for ninth graders). Covering fewer topics with more depth, the course
provides a mastery approach to Physics and integrates science with math,
science history, and English language use. Novare Science is written from a
Biblical worldview to help students see God in the world, while teaching
current scientific theories and a modern secular geological timeline.
