Category Description for Devotional Biology

Devotional Biology from Compass Classroom offers Christian students a truly unique approach to biology that is first a Christian theistic view and second a holistic big picture–view that starts with the divine intent of creation and then moves into organisms, teaching molecules along the way. This is a theologically rich, creation-based curriculum that teaches varied biology concepts, including topics not covered in traditional biology texts. This also means that some traditionally taught topics are not covered. However, it is still a challenging biology course. The author suggests two learning pathways depending on student needs: Read the Devotional Biology Textbook only (potential for a Christian Theology of Biology credit) or use the Devotional Biology Digital Streaming Video and PDFs for a Biology with High School Lab Credit. Access to the streaming course is 18 months and includes the video lectures, the pdf textbook, lab manual, and teacher guide. If your student is pursuing a health science/pre-med degree, they may wish to take a second year biology course to ensure coverage of topics.

The Devotional Biology Textbook includes a note to the teacher, the student readings, chapter summaries, advanced discussion topic(s), and test & essay questions. Helpful wide margins include additional explanations as necessary as well as ample white space for creating personal annotations to aid study. An expansive index covers evolution.

Families wanting Devotional Biology as a high school science with lab credit will need the Devotional Biology Digital Streaming Video and PDFs. This streaming course includes access to 67 video lectures (each about 12–30 minutes), 13 lab instructional videos, and the required books in PDF format: Textbook, Lab Manual, and Teacher’s Guide. Access is for 18 months. If you would prefer to have a printed Devotional Biology Lab Manual or printed Devotional Biology Teacher’s Guide, these are available for your convenience. See more information at the links. We also offer a Package with the Devotional Biology Textbook, Teacher’s Guide, and Lab Manual.

Devotional Biology is an engaging, well-written course for high school students and provides a solid science credit at the high school level. Along with the God-centered instruction in biology, the author does an excellent job of teaching students about their personal responsibility to God and to creation, which is a unique distinctive at this level.
