The Mystery of Science: Physics Student Reader from Bright Ideas Press is a delight with conversational lessons and colorful, glossy pictures on every page! This engaging introduction to physics is perfect for grades 4-8, but flexible enough to use with younger children as well. All labs and activities are found in the Physics Lab Manual—a free printable download included with purchase of this Student Reader (code inside). For convenience, you can also purchase a printed copy of the Lab Manual.
Topics covered include foundations for physics, particles, molecules, states of matter, forces and work, motion, Newton’s laws, friction, projectiles, energy, the electromagnetic spectrum, heat, sound, charges, magnetism, and more.
Students begin each lesson by reading 4-6 pages of fascinating text, which includes vocabulary, Scripture memory, a Creation Corner, and a Meet the Physicist section. Then knowledge is applied through activities in the Lab Manual, such as crossword puzzles, review exercises, writing assignments, research opportunities, labs, and quizzes. It’s flexible…choose the activities that best fit your family! Labs include mostly easy-to-find items, although a few science-specific items are needed. Various sketching tools (colored pencils, a charcoal pencil, markers, etc.) will also be needed. This science curriculum is multisensory and appeals to a wide range of learners!
