While stories are presented in biblical order, highlighting some of the more common stories from Genesis to Acts, each story provides you and your student with the unifying narrative of scripture and a faith lesson with ELA skills throughout. This hardcover textbook presents Bible stories in a way that young readers and listeners can understand and comprehend the Word of God. Each chapter has full-color illustrations that bring the text to life. At the end of each chapter is a Faith Lesson, where connections are made between characters and their actions to what God wants us to learn. The words used for vocab are reading level appropriate: flood, punish, worship, beloved, and language. Vocabulary Words for the chapter are always highlighted every time they are used, making extrapolating meaning and context easy for the reader. Each chapter is about 6 pages long, and once done reading the chapter, students move to the corresponding lesson work in their Student Workbook. Scripture is taken from the NKJV when directly quoted. of Scripture by the time they are reading on a fifth grade level.

It is designed as a 1 semester (18 week) reading component for the Grade 1 Generations Phonics program. Lessons will correlate with the teachings found in the second semester (Volume 2) of the 1st grade phonics series but can also stand alone as a Biblically grounded transition from phonics into a reading program for your 1st grade student.
