  • Roles of the government and non-profit organizations, and the complexities of politics and policy are considered

Description

The  Novare Environmental Science course provides eleven informative chapters that teach the basics of environmental science, the theology of creation care, ecosystems and biomes, the impact on humans and natural disruptions on biodiversity, adaptations, human population and the environmental impact, global population, renewable and non-renewable energy, pollution, climate change, land and water management, sustainable practices, and hope in a preserved and renewed creation, for our children and our children’s children.

The authors are not afraid to tackle tough topics including a look at the controversial relationship the Christian Church -at-large has with the myriads of environmental issues. In light of this relationship, the authors spend a good deal of time considering the opposing sides of many issues including population growth, the impact of global climate change on other people groups, land management (including historic Native American land  management), care of God’s creatures, meat production and the environmental cost of meat consumption, and the Christian response to the politicization of regulations and laws designed to protect our world. The authors are respectful and insightful regarding both sides of the controversy, and at times their views may challenge personal beliefs or the status quo (on either side of the debate), which offers parents an excellent opportunity for additional research and discussion with their teens. 600+ page hardcover textbook.
