Product Overview

  • Teacher books and manipulatives are strongly recommended
  • Award-winning program connects literacy skills to other subjects
  • Students transition from practicing letter formation to writing complete sentences

Description

Students will begin by forming capital letters that are categorized by letter shape. These are labeled with unique identifiers such as “frog-jump,” “starting corner,” or “center-starting capitals.” Then students will move to lowercase letter formation. Lowercase letters are also introduced by how they are formed: first, letters formed the same as their capitals; then the “magic c” letters; and then vowels. Students then learn transition letters, “diver” letters, and f, q, x, and z words. After each group of letters, students will also create and copy sentences and practice reading and writing compound and multisyllabic words. Every section includes a couple pages aimed at brushing up handwriting skills. Students will copy short 2-3 sentence paragraphs (reading about dump trucks, animals with bones and shells, etc.). Dictation of short sentences also gives students an opportunity to engage their listening skills and practice spelling. For additional writing opportunities, add the Student Writing Journal. Landscape format, 102 pgs, sc. ~ Ruth

Publisher's Description of My Printing Book 2025 Student Edition | Handwriting Without Tears

Handwriting Without Tears is a dedicated handwriting solution offering dynamic solutions that are both intuitive and customizable to classroom needs. Designed for adaptability and flexibility, the HWT 2025 editions match teaching to the best way to learn with explicit instruction that is simple to understand. We save you time and cost in producing superior outcomes.

First grade students practice the correct use of lowercase letters in words and sentences. My Printing Book provides grade level reading words, grammar, and paragraph writings. Includes practice writing on different lines styles, and new opportunities for progress monitoring.  My Printing Book 2025 also includes:

  • Step-by-step letter formations that are easy to teach.
  •  Child-friendly consistent language that is easy to follow.
  • Left-friendly design with perfect letter models.
  • Student self-checks for letters, words, and sentences.
  • Practice writing on different line styles.

Prior to starting this level, students should have had some exposure to print handwriting and be able to write the basic lines and shapes needed in letter formation and understand proper pencil grip and posture. However, the student text does begin with a quick overview of these concepts. Then learning continues with capitals and numbers. This is not “just a handwriting book.” This program takes a complex task and makes it easy to teach and understand in an active and engaging way. While targeted for grade 1, this level can be used for any student who needs to shore up printing skills in earnest. Singing and other multisensory activities implement specially designed writing tools and build key skills. Student and teacher packages that include the basic required manipulatives are available. ~ Ruth
