Description

Publisher's Description of What We Believe Set

Our children are bombarded daily with competing messages. Every song, movie, book, TV show, blog, and game is full of ideas - ideas about God, people, truth, beauty, and right and wrong. Not all of these ideas are true. Some are deceptive and even destructive.

Because it is more important than ever that children learn to discern the truth, Apologia has partnered with Summit Ministries to bring the What We Believe series to your family.

The What We Believe series is an outstanding way to teach children the essential beliefs of the Christian faith, but it's so much more! With this beautifully illustrated Bible-based curriculum, your children will learn to use Scripture as the perfect lens through which to view the world around them and stand firm in the truth. Featuring engaging stories, creative notebooking, and fun activities, this four-part series is presented in a conversational style that makes the study of God's Word exciting and memorable for the whole family!

"Great for parents to use with
their children at home!"
Chuck Colson, BreakPoint

Apologia has given us a valuable course of study for family spiritual growth with its What We Believe series. This series provides a thorough and age-appropriate examination of all major worldviews to develop a student’s biblical worldview.

The What We Believe series is divided into four volumes: Who is God? Who Am I? Who Is My Neighbor? and What on Earth Can I Do? Each hardcover Text is beautifully illustrated and includes the engaging written lessons. Each lesson covers two weeks with three days per week and is written conversationally to students. The heart of each lesson is to guide students through a journey of discovery, helping them grasp the essential principles of a Christian worldview. Interesting articles, biographical sketches, illustrative artwork, and suggestions for notebooking topics are included to support this journey. The lessons also include an overview, learning objectives, vocabulary study, memory verses, personal application, and related prayer. Lessons conclude with Worldview in Focus, which is an ongoing study using The House of Truth, a visual model developed by Summit Ministries. The What We Believe series does not hesitate to take on difficult questions such as: What is God like? If God created the world, why isn't it perfect? What does it look like to humbly serve others? Where am I building my life? And Why did God create me?

Although the course could be completed with just the Text, a Bible, and a personal journal or notebook, the supplemental Notebooking Journals provide an attractive and appealing space for the student to keep notes and responses. The Journals are designed to be a keepsake record of the student’s spiritual growth throughout each course. Two options are available: the Notebooking Journal for grades 4–8, which includes a fair amount of writing prompts, or the Junior Notebooking Journal, which is a great option for families wanting to use the course with younger children alongside older siblings. It may also be a good option for a student who struggles with fine motor skills. MP3 Audio CDs provide text content that can be downloaded to computers or devices.
