Viscounts of the West Kingdom Game

Description

Issued in 2020, this game is the third of the West Kingdom Series published by Garphill Games and wraps up this trilogy. It takes place in 980 AD, which was a medieval time, using a fictional scenario loosely based on the Frankish empire. The scene is set with a storyline that plays out during a period of the king’s decline, with poverty and unrest causing his subjects to have distrust in his ability to rule effectively. We play this game as Viscounts, who are trying to use their wisdom to help the kingdom move through this period by pleasing the people of the land while remaining loyal to the king.

In this 1-4 player game, our goals align with its theme as we gain victory points while we work on the castle, build structures, and transcribe manuscripts that hold knowledge, while trying to keep the kingdom solvent.  Successfully performing these tasks will help keep our citizens informed and strong and hopefully help us earn enough points to win the game!

Other games in the West Kingdom trilogy include Architects of the West Kingdom and Paladins of the West KingdomViscounts is in the middle of these two with regard to complexity.  It has a solo mode, and its two expansions, Gates of Gold and Keepers of Keys, add variety and new challenges.
