The Tapestry Literature & Language Program

Description

Christian, Classical, All-inclusive, Auditory, High Teacher Involvement

The Tapestry Literature & Language from Circe Institute is a mastery-based language arts program for 1st to 8th graders, focusing on developing an ear for beautiful language.   Students experience and learn proper grammar through imitation and explicit instruction.  The Circe authors believe that knowledge precedes analysis, so the emphasis is on building poetic knowledge and imitating good language. Through listening, saying, reading, and writing from classic literature, students will learn and master grammar concepts. Although spelling skills will be reinforced through copywork and dictation, there is no explicit spelling instruction.

The instructor will need the spiral-bound spine, and each student will need a copywork book, either in manuscript printing or cursive.  Students will also need a separate notebook for narration and dictation assignments.  As part of the mastery approach, it is suggested that students go through each volume two years in a row.

  • Volume 1 is for 1st-2nd graders and teaches the 8 parts of speech
  • Volume 2 is for 3rd- 4th graders and teaches subjects, predicates, and modifiers
  • Volume 3 and Volume 4 will be available by Spring of 2027
