Purposeful Design Science is an inquiry-based curriculum
that focuses on the design of creation as faith and science are woven together.
Available for elementary and middle school, each yearlong course guides
students through investigation, observing, and thinking about the world around
them. The elementary grades provide an overview of life science, physical
science, earth and space, and the human body in each year. The middle school
grades provide an in-depth one-year study of each of the three science disciplines:
Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science.
There are currently two
editions available: the second edition and the third edition. In the second
edition, the elementary series covers grades 1-6, and middle school covers
grades 7-9. The third edition elementary courses are available for grades 1-5,
with three middle school courses covering grades 6-8. Families may choose
either edition to receive an academically strong, biblically based science
education.

Teaching Method
Traditional
Teacher-centered curriculum commonly used in classrooms that may include a text, teacher manual, tests, etc.
Charlotte Mason
A methodology based on the work of a 19th century educator who maintained that children learn best from literature (Living Books), not textbooks.
Classical
A methodology based on the Latin Trivium (three stages of learning), including the grammar stage (memorization and facts), logic stage (critical thinking), and rhetoric stage (developing/defending ideas).
Unit Study
A thematic or topical approach centered around one topic that integrates multiple subject areas.
Montessori (Discovery)
A methodology based on the work of a 20th century educator that emphasizes student and sensory-driven discovery learning and real-life applications.

Focus is on the “why,” often with a unifying concept as well as specific skills; coverage may be broader.
