Helpful!
I would totally recommend this kit. It's so great to have lab items all in one spot to take and complete the labs as needed. I tried to piece together a kit myself. I had beakers, eye droppers, etc, but none of the chemicals - it would have cost me more to buy it that way...this is helpful and cost effective.

Good collection of materials
The products in this collection are of good quality and seem as if they will be likely to last for multiple kids in our family. The only surprise was that the scale is very small, about the size of a deck of cards, but seems to be sufficient for its purpose.

My teen and I are both very impressed with this curriculum. It stands out from the couple others we've seen... not many choices are as good for this subject out there. We decided to ditch the online and/or the coop class (which wasn't using this great resource) and do as many of these experiments at home as possible. Love how the whole thing begins with MEASURES, significant figures, how to do conversions, while everybody is fresh.. great timing for a good foundation.

Seemed the most convenient, complete way to order supplies for John Mays Chemistry Course. Too many years of missing just one item, which causes delays that are, in the end, also an expense.

I trust Dr. Wile about the errors in the latest Chemistry text from his former company and was pleased that he's gone to the trouble of bringing us an alternative.

Trust Dr Wiles that he verified this was sufficient and the kit was easier than assembling individual components.

Has anyone's thermometer not worked? We got out our kit to do the lab today about calibrating the thermometer and the red line will not move, it doesn't matter if it is in ice or boiling water. Odd?

Does each student need his/her own lab kit for this course, or would it work for two students to share?

BEST ANSWER: Two students could share and do it as lab partners. My son finished the course and there are enough lab supplies for my daughter to do the labs on her own. I did buy extra beakers and larger test tubes in case of breakage or if he wanted to expand the experiments. He did use about half of the copper sulfate, but less than half of all the other chemicals. We purchased the simple burner(looks like the bottom half of an kerosene lamp) with the wire mesh stand.

He loved this book and the way it was laid out and how clearly concepts were taught.
