Description

Discover! English Language Arts 8 guides students through literary analysis, multicultural literature, persuasive writing, argumentation, poetry, theater, historical and science fiction, research skills, documentary film, and digital literacy tools. Students will analyze different literature portions in their workbooks and then follow up with writing and essay assignments. 

There is a total of 160 days of instruction, and each chapter will take 2 days to complete. On day one students will complete the explore and read section. This provides students with new information presented in real-world narrative and they will read information about the chapter topic. On Day 2, they will complete the Practice and Show What You Know pages. Students will reflect on the information that was presented on Day 1 and apply it with graphic organizers, drawing, matching, writing prompts, and other various practice activities. Review of what you know will culminate the chapter with review questions over the chapters content and essay questions.
