We will be using Saxon all the way through high school, and like the way this teacher explains the lessons as you go along. We already use his course for the Math 76, and wanted to purchase the DVD versions of all the other courses before they all sell out.

We really enjoy Art Reed's instruction. He takes just enough time to learn the concepts, then do the lesson without feeling like it's taking "forever" to finish. My kids love Saxon!

It's been a long time since I've had Algebra, so this DVD is a godsend. You do not need to know Algebra to teach it when you have this DVD. The only thing I've found with my children is getting them into the good habits of reading the material first, watching the DVD, and then doing the work. When they skip straight to the work, they miss a lot of problems. When they watch the DVD, they make excellent scores. So make sure your kids watch the DVD, to save a lot of frustration later.

We have used Saxon Math for our students for years now. We like the repetition and feel it is a good product. Our kids like to be able to look up answers to problem questions on the CD-ROM, but it's sometimes easier to have an actual person to show you how to work a particular type of problem.

My daughter loves Mr. Reed. He's so personable and her uses DIFFERENT problems in the video than what are in the lesson. That gives my daughter more information and variety. Mr. Reed rocks!

Can this DVD set be used along with the Algebra 1/2 second edition?

BEST ANSWER: I don't think so. I believe the editions need to match because some of the lessons are ordered differently. You can email Art Reed (the creator of the DVD) and he will respond to you directly.

Great Video Teaching for Saxon!
My son has definitely benefited from Mr. Art Reed's teaching. He watches one lesson each day Monday through Thursday, preferably after reading through the lesson in the book. He has rewatched one or two lessons that were confusing to him the first time. Mr. Reed is encouraging and endearing. He reminds the students of their Friday test days, and then asks on Monday's lesson how the test went. It is helpful to be able to see the teacher instead of just a whiteboard, and Mr. Reed often has helpful tips or ways of explaining that are a great addition to the book.

Love It!
We have learned so much about math from Mr. Reed through his Mastering Algebra DVD series. She enjoys watching Mr. Reed's lessons and they have been incredibly helpful to my daughter as she has begun Saxon Algebra 1/2 this year. I highly recommend this DVD series!

Great Resource, DVD format
Excellent resource in explaining the concepts used in Saxon math programs. However, the DVD would make it easier if it showed TOPICS as well as the chapters for the editions. Sometimes I don't want to have to go through a full investigation of where the concept will be located on the DVD in order to review. Art Reed does a great job once you get there though. A handout or printout guideline would be helpful to have with the DVD's too- with a "math problem" showcased reviewing the concept taught.
