These lessons are a huge help for my high schoolers as they make their way through the Saxon curriculum. My son is using Advanced Math over two years (4 semesters) and this CD covers a little over the first year. This pace is much more doable for the average student and helps reduce frustration. The lessons included on this CD are essential for a more visual and auditory learner.

We will be using Saxon all the way through high school, and like the way this teacher explains the lessons as you go along. We already use his course for the Math 76, and wanted to purchase the DVD versions of all the other courses before they all sell out.

Art Reed is wonderful!! What a dear. He does a great job, and walks us through every single Saxon math lesson. He is personally available, and has helped us out when we struggled with different problems. I couldn't be happier with his math DVDs. Instead of me having to do everything, he teaches the lesson, and I am freed up to be a support person. We talk through what he taught and do the examples from the book together before I leave them to do the problems on their own. It's great!

Will the Mastering Algebra Advanced Math with Geometry D D by Mr. Reed help with Saxon Geometry?
BEST ANSWER: Our family has benefited from Mr. Art Reed's DVDs. We have used his DVD's to teach Algebra 1/2, 1 and 2 and are in our second year of the Advanced Math book. As a mother this has given me the help I have needed to explain the concepts correctly and further their math development--especially in the Advanced Math. I would encourage others to check these products out!

Buy Saxon
It does not have all the lessons. It recommends only doing half the assignment each day so each lesson takes 2 days. We ended up buying the Saxon CD after first purchasing this one. We were happy with the Saxon CD.

Wonderful DVD Teaches Well
This DVD set by Art Reed is excellent and just what I needed for my son. Mr. Reed teaches clearly and efficiently. My son is confident in his ability to follow and succeed in his book work. I love that this DVD set, unlike DIVE or Saxon Teacher, shows a real person at a dry erase board working the problems rather than a Khan Academy style screen with a voice and problems written with a mouse on the screen. My son also much prefers seeing a person teach to seeing a screen with numbers and a voice in the background. That is a personal preference, and for us it was a deal breaker.

The absolute BEST Saxon Math DVD's PERIOD!
This is by far the BEST Saxon Math DVD's we've ever used. We've tried DIVE and Saxon Teacher and nothing even comes close to Art Reed's Saxon DVD's. Both kids hated the other DVD lessons. It just wasn't clicking for them at all. Mr. Reed worked with John Saxon (the author of the original Saxon Math textbooks) and understands his method. Each lesson coincides lesson for lesson to the Saxon Math textbook. Whereas the other DVD's showed only a blue screen, these show Mr. Reed working the problems out of the board that are different from the examples for each lesson found in the book. He is engaging and presents the lessons in a very matter of fact manner. The one thing that my kids particularly liked is he tells you things like, "Now you may be thinking, why do I have to do all those extra steps Mr. Reed if I did THIS (and he shows you on the board) it would be faster and I'd get the right answer. But if you do this it will confuse you later on when we get to .... so it's important to do it this way and I'll explain why in a few more lessons." This was REALLY helpful and appreciated by kids. He explains not only the how to do the steps but WHY it's important to do math problems by not skipping certain steps. He doesn't dumb it down. Wouldn't use anything else! Great Math Course
We love all of Art Reed's math videos, and these are no exception. My son has done very well with this course with the help of these videos.
