Product Description:

You're playing Scrabble with three friends. You love the game but you hate the long delays between your turns. You can only spend so much time planning your next move, as someone invariably messes up your plans. What can you do? Bananagrams! In this Scrabble-like game, you compete against up to 7 other players, but your tiles, played and unplayed, are always under your control. In essence, you have your own flexible game of Scrabble going on, and so do your opponents. Start with your tiles (the number depending on the number of players), turn them over, and start making connecting and intersecting words. All letters are the same point value, and you can rearrange your words at any time. When any player has played all his letters, he takes a new tile from the Bunch, as do all the other players. If a player cannot play a letter, he can put the tile back and draw three other tiles. Play continues until there are fewer tiles in the Bunch than there are players. The first player to play all his tiles is the winner of that round (if all his words are correct). Rounds typically take around ten minutes, but can be as little as five, so games can consist of as many rounds as you decide. Variations of the game are also possible, even a solitaire game. Bananagrams comes in a cloth pouch that looks like (you guessed it) a banana, and includes 144 ivory-like tiles and instructions.

Publisher Description:

Addictively simple, and simply addictive, BANANAGRAMS is the fast and frantic word game enjoyed by millions! Players and their opponents aim to use all of their letters to build a word grid in a race to the finish. The first player to use all of their tiles is crowned "Top Banana"!

BANANAGRAMS requires no pencil, paper, or board, and comes in a small portable banana-shaped pouch that's perfect for ages 7 and up —at home or on the go.

We love our Bananagrams We homeschool and have 3 children and I must say they fight to make the most words! We do not just play the way the instructions tell us we made up some fun games on our own The kids set at the table and I will say a word and the first person to spell it right wins we also play a game with syllables as well I say a word and they have to space the word out depending on the syllables in the word These bananagrams can be used for tons of games!! They are fun which help the kids learn and want to have fun!! Our family loves them!

Our family is "bananas" over Bananagrams! Some educational games we have bought in the past sit in the game closet unused either because of their boredom factor or difficulty in playing them Bananagrams ap"peals" to all of my school age children as well as other adults Our family loves to play around with words and we love playing games together So Bananagrams has become a favorite in our home Several variations for play are given to either make a game go faster or provide additional challenges We prefer the original crossword-type game where everyone is making and changing their own crossword in front of them in order to use up all of their tiles My second grader has gotten some great spelling practice as we discuss why a word is spelled a certain way and my oldest 7th grader challenges herself to include a spelling or vocabulary word from her studies Also when my children question one of my words they are exposed to new vocabulary and a spelling rule if one is known We keep a dictionary close by to check for accuracy and sometimes suggestions for those seemingly impossible Q's X's and Z's This product has more than met this word-loving family's expectations and we have recently acquired Appletters by the same company Bananagrams is still our top choice But we are eagerly learning the many options each game offers

This game is absolutely wonderful! It moves rather quickly and gives my kids lots of spelling practice We play it at home as a reinforcement activity but I just played it the other day with six other women at a family get together and we had a great time They all loved it too It is well worth the money to purchase this game It is also extremely portable and the instructions even include a variation to play if you are sitting in a restaurant waiting for your food Very versatile and very fun for all ages!

The whole family loves this game! All ages and levels can play together easily We found it quick and easy to learn There are suggested adaptations but we have made up our own game using our weekly spelling wordsthe possibilities for additional uses are many with Bananagrams I wish I had bought it sooner!
