My youngest needed it for Heart of Dakota

I purchased this book to use as a spine book with our current curriculum. I chose to purchase it rather than borrow it from the library after reading all of the wonderful reviews. I am looking forward to using it with my children.

I bought my grandson Lincoln Logs for Christmas and thought this book would be a nice addition for him.

For a great nice who has for years insisted that she wants to grow up to be a pioneer and she, age 10, is learning some of those skills.

This was one of the most useful books we have ever used in our home school I first found this at the library years ago and loved it so much I had to purchase one Following this family through a year of pioneer living gave my boys a real feel for how folks really lived in 1840 America We did many of the activities as part of our lessons We even served our own homemade butter at Thanksgiving! My boys also enjoyed making a patchwork quilt playing knucklebones making shadow puppets candle dipping and tin punching Since we burn wood they were already pretty knowledgeable in wood chopping After we did our pioneer study we returned to this book for bedtime reading because the story is so sweet and wholesome The true test of a book is when the children are grown My oldest spent a weekend during his first year of college reading this book Pioneer Sampler is a treasure!
