Product Description:

Join Mr. Pipes, Annie, and Drew in learning about Christian music from the era of the Reformation. Annie and Drew are on summer vacation in Switzerland and Germany with Mr. Pipes. Each chapter covers one hymn writer, and, through a story of Mr. Pipes and the children, you learn all about the hymn writer's life, and the story behind his songs. More importantly, the story tells about the worship of God. This book encourages interest in the traditional hymns of our faith, one of the most expressive ways for us to worship God. ~ Stephanie

Does this book come with a CD of the hymns learned? i'm really hoping so!!!
A shopper on Aug 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is no CD. However, all hymns are given with music, as in a hymnal. Some of them are familiar enough that you could easily find them on a CD ("Fairest Lord Jesus," "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty." "A Mighty Fortress is our God"). Many of the others are new to me, but we're excited to learn them.

"A good hymn is the best use to which poetry can be devoted" This quote from John Greenleaf Whittier was in the beginning of a Mr Pipes book and the author really does explain what good hymns areI'm 13 and I enjoy hymns Still I'd never really thought about the stories behind them or about the writersThat changed when we got the Mr Pipes booksEach chapter is about how Mr Pipes teaches Annie and Drew about the hymn writersThey learn about what makes a good hymn poetry music and they also learn about how to worship God with hymns There are not only stories about more familiar hymn writers like John Newton Martin Luther and Isaac Watts but also about less known ones such as John Eliot Philip Nicolai and many othersThe books also include all the words for many hymns and music for some of them which is great since I can play them on my violinThe author Douglas Bond is an excellent writer and this is a good series for learning about good hymns
