This is an excellent resource for teaching high school students classical roots! Our co-op has used this book.

If Ive never used this curriculum, is it wise to start in the 9th grade?
A shopper on Jul 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can start C in 9th grade. My caution: if your child is not a strong reader or has trouble spelling, start with A or B. Otherwise, C is fine. I used it in a combined 8-12 grade class this year.My other caution: the tests. They include information on novels or historical issues that give clues to answers. If students don’t have background in those areas, the clues are irrelevant. And students may feel they are not smart as a result. My assistant teacher and I wrote our own tests that used everyday speech and situations where the vocab words could come into play more easily.
Based on the sample pages, it appears that the teacher's guide is geared toward classroom teachers. How useful is it for homeschool teachers (other than the answer key, which can be purchased separately)?

BEST ANSWER: Never noticed that you could buy the Answer Key separately. We homeschool and use the teacher's guide to this series for all the exercises. We do these books orally and I quote the "Literary and Historical References" as they come up in the exercise. Those references are only in the teacher's guide. Also, some of the activities are appropriate for homeschooling, though many are worded as if there is a class of students. At the back there is a light worksheet/quiz for each lesson that we use for review even after we've finished one book and moved on to the next. I love this series, and I get the teacher's guide for every level.
