Category Description for Primary Math - 2022 Edition Math 6
Grade 6 begins in 6A with exponential and prime notation and factorization; LCM; fractions and multi-digit decimals rational numbers; ratios; rates and units; problems in distance, time, speed; percentages, fractions, and decimals. Second semester (book 6B) begins with simplifying, evaluating, and writing algebraic expressions using four operations. The text then moves to algebraic equations using the four operations; using rational numbers; linear equations; simple inequalities; coordinate planes; volume and surface area; and statistics. A STEAM project is offered for each chapter (such as researching Georges Cuvier, the founding father of paleontology).
This level’s course components differ slightly from previous grades. Each semester requires a Student Book, Additional Practice Book, and your choice of a Teacher Guide (either the color TG or the Black & White Exclusive Home Instructor’s Copy TG (the latter is only available for home educators). Either of these guides come with an access code for Digital Resources. Once activated, this code provides a one-year subscription to McEduHub – the online resource website for Marshall Cavendish. Renewal subscriptions are available to purchase through your McEduHub account. An Assessment Guide for this level is projected to be available fall of 2023. Mastery and Beyond are not used in Grade 6.
