Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy focuses on mastery of basic properties, solving equations (including simultaneous equations), coin problems, exponents and square roots, scientific notation, unit multipliers, and metric conversions. Graphing lines is taught in detail, and graphing conic sections is introduced. Polynomial operations are also taught. Visual and hands-on learning is integral for mastery. The Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy Set (no Integer Block Kit, no Algebra Decimal Insert Kit) includes: Algebra 1 Legacy Instruction Manual, Algebra 1 Legacy Student Workbook and Tests, and the Algebra 1 Legacy Online Instruction Videos. Families who prefer DVD instruction may wish to consider the optional Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy DVD.
Please note: Digital access to the Math-U-See instructional videos is in transition. As of June 15th, 2026, the Digital Toolbox one-time, level specific online instruction with video is no longer available. The online component (available separately or in the curriculum packages) is now sold as the Individual Essential Plan Annual Access Card, which is redeemable for a one-year subscription to the Essential Plan. The Essential Plan includes 2 course credits (2 Math-U-See levels) as well as access to free resources for one year. Families may create 5 student accounts. With this new approach, families may activate one course and have flexibility for their child to move up to the next course if they finish early or to move back to a lower level for additional review as needed. Or if you have 2 students using Math-U-See, you may purchase one full package (with the Annual Access Card) for one student and then purchase the physical components (no Access Card) for the second student. If you have previously purchased a course with the Lifetime Access to the Digital Toolbox, it will continue to be available.
Families needing to purchase the required Integer Block Kit and the Algebra Decimal Inserts may prefer the Math-U-See Algebra 1 Legacy Set, which includes the required manipulatives.
