Approaching reading from a Simply Charlotte Mason
approach, Delightful Reading is fully scripted for parents while
focusing on games and activities for students. This leveled phonics curriculum
takes a child from beginning letters and sounds to reading chapter books.
Intentionally short lessons (10 minutes per day) help train focus and prevent
reading burnout. Observe your individual student, they will tell you when and
if they are ready to start reading. The emphasis is on teaching reading skills,
to that end, parents will do any documentation as no handwriting skills are
needed for this program. Each Reading Kit includes everything
needed for one student except for common household items.
Level 1 is low-key and
works with a child’s interest. In this level, letters and sounds are learned
through games and activities.
Level 2 begins after
the child knows most letters and sounds. Following the step-by-step
instructions in the Games & Activities Book, parents guide children into
basic phonics.
Level 3 moves the
budding reader into sentences, paragraphs, and chapters. Children will read
classic literature selections and Scripture using the included Delightful
Reader.
Each Leveled Reading Kit contains the Teacher Guide and
student materials. If you have more than one student, Additional Learner
Sets contain the consumable student materials. See individual level
