About us

Dear Homeschooler / Private Educator,

Imagine a school that has been operating for centuries and has produced some of the greatest civic leaders, scientists, and entrepreneurs of their era. Imagine a school that academically outperforms the public schools by a wide margin. Imagine a school where the student has the time and freedom to follow the pursuits of their heart and to develop their God-given talents. Imagine a school where the development of each student's mind, body and character is the highest priority. Imagine a school where the teacher makes curriculum choices based on what works best for each student, and gives that student hours of individual attention each day. This school exists in over a million places today. This school is the home school.

Why use Rainbow Resource Center for your homeschooling needs? Five reasons:

Great Selection with Detailed Descriptions. Our mission is to help you teach your way. That is why we offer over 50,000 products. Our philosophy is that there is no one right way to teach; each child has different strengths and preferred ways of learning. By offering a wide variety of products, you can find the best ones for your student's learning style and your teaching methodology. In addition to a multitude of core courses, we offer many supplemental items to use as interest and budget allow. We attempt to provide detailed descriptions to help you make intelligent choices.

Low Prices, Year-Round. In 1989 we started Rainbow Re-Source Center as a curriculum recycling service to help stretch the homeschooling budget. As we transitioned to selling new products, we maintained our desire to keep our prices low while offering products that we knew worked well in a homeschooling setting. You will find our prices competitive with, and in many cases lower than, Amazon and other internet retailers. We price our products for consistency and we make every attempt to hold our prices for the life of our catalog, unlike some internet retailers who change their prices on a daily basis.

Fast, Free Shipping. Orders leave our warehouse within 2 business days, unless held for backorders, and more than 90% ship with no backorders. And we offer "Free Freight for Fifty" to save you even more money on orders over $50.

Free consulting. Need help sorting out your options? We have five experienced curriculum consultants with homeschool, private school, and public school teaching experience. Call in, email, or live chat with our consultants, and they will help you make your curriculum choices, all for no charge.

Experience and Success. Homeschooling has been the focal point of our family since we started educating Jessica and Megan, our oldest children, in 1986. The last of the seven, Janine and Stephen, started college in 2012, ending a 26-year career of home education, kindergarten through high school. Our family average on the ACT test is 94th percentile, and all have gone on to college and have done well there. Our four oldest daughters are married with kids of their own and have already started the next generation of homeschooling with their own children.

Quite simply, we believe Rainbow Resource Center is the best choice for homeschooling resources. Thank you for considering the educational materials that we offer. We look forward to serving you.

For the Glory of God,
Bob & Linda Schneider and family

P.S. - Family Highlights

Our business continues to be a family business, as several of our kids and their spouses work in key positions in our business. Jessica spearheads our Marketing Department, while husband Steve works on website improvements and computer hardware upgrades. Maintaining rental properties, shopping garage sales, and parenting Ramsey, Gemma, and Roxy occupy their non-work hours. When not homeschooling, Megan works on product research and catalog administration, while her husband Zach oversees our customer service, consulting, and exhibit teams. They and their six kids (Cheyenh, Dusti, Jackson, Sedona, Asher, and Sawyer) take care of their 5-acre, 2-horse "ranch." Stephanie helps us out on the catalog as needed (which is every year!), but spends the rest of her time homeschooling their eight (Cadence, Haven, West, Avery, Caralee, Bilal, Ariana, and Wyatt). Husband Joel heads up our supplier department and our fulfillment operations. The Mannings spend a lot of time in the woods and the pond at their home. Stephen has joined the family business and splits his time between Software Development, IT, and Marketing. He enjoys foreign music, writing, and travel.

As for the rest of the crew not working full-time in our business, Stephanie's twin sister Melissa spends her time homeschooling and raising her four girls (Eve, Noelle, Selena and Nora), while husband Nate works as a mechanical engineer for a supplier to the aerospace industry in Rockford IL. Mark is working on his second assignment in the IT area at John Deere in Moline, IL. His free time is divided between writing, household maintenance, and his wife Kelly. Janine has graduated from Michigan State University and works as a counselor at a domestic violence shelter in Pekin, IL. Her hobbies include art, working out, and animals.

Bob & Linda spend the vast majority of their time managing the business, researching products, and spending time with all the kids and grandkids. Linda continues to hone her karate skills, while Bob enjoys his new Mustang and outdoor projects involving tractor and chain saw. And we all look forward to our annual family gathering in Michigan this summer.
