Grade 6 (Sunrise 2nd Ed.)

Description

The Sunrise 2nd Edition of Christian Light Education Language Arts has made some nice improvements in addition to the full-color illustrations and graphics. You will still find the same strong grammar, usage, and mechanics instruction which includes diagramming. The writing instruction, however, has been greatly enhanced. Starting in Unit 601 with sentence construction skills, there is a progression through the units with paragraph and essay assignments. A number of different forms of writing (summaries, news report, character sketches, outlines, and essays) are covered, as well as creative writing instruction and exercises in every unit. One unit also covers poetry.

The LightUnits Set(10 magazine-size consumable worktexts) provides the instructional/textual material as well as student exercises plus quizzes and tests. There are 17 lessons per unit. Unit tests are in the middle of each LightUnit and can be pulled out. There are several helps in the back – spelling bookmarks, a glossary, and a grammar reference. The Teacher Guides (two separate volumes) provide daily lessons and spelling lists plus an index of grade level skills, a scope and sequence, and alternate tests with answers (in case a student needs to retake a test).

Sunrise 2E Teacher Guides are larger; spiral-bound books with reduced copies of student pages with answers. Other components include Answer Keys (sold as a two-book set; spiral bound, landscape) which provide half-size copies of the student pages, a Quiz/Test Answer Key (full-size copies of student pages with answers filled in) and Extra Practice Pages. You do not need both the Teacher Guide and the Answer Keys set.
