Usborne Classics

Oftentimes children are turned off of great literature simply because they see the works as too hard for them to read and understand. Unfortunately, the feeling often persists until adulthood, with many excellent stories never having been read. Since much of great literature involves a great story, Usborne doesn't know why younger children can't enjoy the story without tripping through archaic and advanced vocabulary. These classics are retold in and modern and age-appropriate language for today's young readers. Each is formatted like a chapter book, and includes black-and-white illustrations, as well informative introductions to acquaint them with the work, and notes on the story and characters. - Jess
