Manimo Weighted Animals

Have you heard the one about the horse in a box full of wheat? Its no joke research shows that pressure can have a calming effect on both animals and people, and this concept has led to a lot of interesting devices! Wild horses really are calmed when placed in a box filled with wheat, squeeze chutes are used to restrain and calm cattle, and there are even pressure vests for dogs. Pressure is one reason why hugs can be so soothing to people and why deep-pressure therapy and devices like weighted or inflatable vests can help children with developmental disabilities concentrate and cope. Thats the concept behind Manimo, which are weighted, cuddly animals that feel like soft, heavy bean bags. When children (or adults) need help concentrating or calming down, they may find a Manimo companion helpful to place on their lap, shoulders, chest, or just to curl up with! In particular, those with developmental disabilities or learning disabilities, such as autism or ADHD, may find this product especially beneficial. Im on the autism spectrum myself and love wrapping my troubles in a Manimo and dreaming my troubles away! Due to the weight of Manimo animals and the fact that people become desensitized to pressure after a certain time, it is recommended that they be used for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time. - Janine
