Academically strong and biblically grounded, BJU Press
Phonics and English 1 combines phonics, reading and comprehension, grammar,
listening, and speaking skills—everything a first grader needs for language arts!
As a curriculum, BJU Phonics and English is well-organized with a step-by-step
format that parents and children will appreciate. The Homeschool Kit includes
everything necessary for success, but we do offer components individually if
you prefer to piece it together.
The Teacher
Edition (two volumes) provides teaching instruction and support, lesson
plan overviews, review activities, and answers. The Student Worktext
features memorable phonics characters to help students learn the principles of
phonics through word family and syllable instruction. Writing and grammar
skills are introduced with a simple, natural approach that begins with
sentences and progresses to short paragraphs. Chapter reviews also offer
consistent indications of student comprehension. The Student Activities provide
a review of daily lesson content as well as spiral reviews. New to the BJU
Phonics and English are valuable supplements to aid phonics and reading mastery—these
include Visuals, High Frequency Word Cards,
and Word Families Cards.
